“Now how can they call on one in whom they have never believed? How can they believe in one of whom they have never heard? And how can they hear unless someone proclaims him? And who will go to tell them unless he is sent? As the Scripture puts it: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!’ Romans 10:14-15 jbp

What an amazing gift God has entrusted to us – the honor of joining John the Baptist, Jesus, the apostles and prophets, and the first believers in calling people to ‘repent for the kingdom of heaven is around the corner.’ Our Savior’s last word to us was “GO!” But He told us to go and do something specific – make disciples, followers of Him. He sent us!! Paul tells us in Romans 10 that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved – not disappointed, not crossing their fingers and hoping for acceptance with God, but SAVED! Saved from the penalty from their sin. Saved from the power of their sin. Saved from the guilt of their sin. Saved to holiness. Saved to fellowship – with Him and with His people. Saved to a meaningful existence. Saved to a life of peace and joy that begins here and now. “Everyone who calls on the Lord’s name will experience new life.” (v 13 tpt)

We have the answer to the dilemmas of living, the very keys to the kingdom on the tip of our tongue. Let us pray for our brethren in churches around our city. Pray that we would have opportunity to share our faith in Jesus. Pray for boldness to crack open doors of relationships to bring in light. Pray for courage to confront the killing lies with the truth of the Gospel. Pray for wisdom to discern the need and method to present the truth with love.

That is what makes your feet beautiful! What??? Shouldn’t it be our mouths? Well, the reference of that phrase is from the days when messages were carried by runners, and the beauty was the timeliness and joy of the announcement. “What a beautiful sight to behold –  the precious feet of the messenger coming over the mountains to announce good news. He comes to refresh us with wonderful news, announcing salvation to Zion and saying, “Your Mighty God reigns!” The footnotes of that verse in Isaiah 52:7 read: “It is a messenger (singular) here, but it becomes a company of messengers in Romans 10:15. We are told to proclaim the wonderful news—not the bad news that brings despair and fear but the good news of our God, who reigns in the midst of his people. This Hebrew word (for God) is remarkably similar to Yeshua, the name of Jesus.”

So let’s lace up our Nikes and race over those mountains, since as Jesus followers, “… the Lord has anointed me (us) to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me (us) to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.” Yup – we are His mouthpiece and we have beautiful feet!

Here is a story Doug shared with us that shows how the Lord can use our loaves and fish. “I am forever amazed at how God can use the message. While working at a downtown shop in Lincoln in about 1974, a young woman came in and she was involved in The Way, which was somewhat popular then. While talking to her a young man came in and hearing our conversation, asked me, what is the gospel? I simply stated, that Jesus Christ died for our sins. Never knew his name or saw him again. Several years later after a morning service at a church start up in Lincoln, my brother introduced himself to a guy and was asked if he knew Doug S…., Yes, he’s my brother. To which the guy replied, “he’s the one who shared the gospel with me!” I’ll find out who he is someday in heaven!!

Lord bless!!
