As a new believer, zeal for authentic Christianity unfortunately led to a spiritually abusive church environment, both as a participant and eventually as a leader. Repentance required more than seeking forgiveness and reconciliation. It also required a careful reevaluation and reconstruction of teachings and attitudes I had embraced and promoted. Salt-Shaker.blog is a collection of resources that I have found in the recovery process.

My hope is to help others recognize both the pitfalls of spiritual abuse and the systems that enable it. I also hope to encourage believers to think outside of their own bubbles, examine assumptions, and extend grace. We need to create and build communities that are safe, healthy, and centered on Christ.
